Hurricane Irma – the strongest storm ever recorded in the Atlantic before hitting the Florida Keys as a Category 4 hurricane – has certainly been a trial for all of us in the region. But during these tumultuous weeks Waste Management has seen the very best in people as communities have come together to help each other in the long recovery ahead. Waste Management is honored to have played a small role in the Florida relief efforts in a few different ways:
- $1 million donated to the American Red Cross for Florida recovery efforts
- Nearly 2,500 containers delivered in one week after the storm including to the 16 Florida Power & Light staging areas for first responders
- “Green Team” members from out of state are on the ground assisting in our hauling and post-collections areas with more to come
